Digitizing and Optimizing Fuel Log Management for Cebu Pacific

Redesigned Cebu Pacific’s fuel log process with an offline-first mobile app, enabling seamless data capture and synchronization. Improved accuracy, streamlined audits, and later evolved to support maintenance crews for greater efficiency.

  • Pain points: Pilots relied on manual, paper-based processes to record fuel uplift logs, which created inefficiencies, delayed audits, and risked inaccuracies. Unstable internet connections at airports worldwide further complicated timely logging.

Target users / stakeholders: Primary users were pilots (later transitioned to maintenance crews); stakeholders included flight operations, maintenance teams, and auditors.

Impact: Manual recording slowed workflows, increased administrative overhead, and created risks in auditing fuel consumption, impacting cost analysis and operational efficiency.

    • Led UX direction for the digitization of the fuel log process.

    • Partnered with pilots and operations to map their workflow and understand offline/online constraints.

    • Defined requirements for offline-first functionality and synchronization behavior.

    • Guided iterative design and testing to ensure the solution fit both pilot and maintenance crew needs.

  • A mobile application enabling offline-first fuel log entry, with seamless synchronization to the central server once internet connectivity was restored.

  • The team designed and delivered an app focused on simplifying the fuel uplift log process, enabling users to input data offline without fear of losing critical information. Once a connection was restored, the app automatically synchronized with the server, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records. This innovation made pre-flight fuel data entry faster and more reliable, and later transitioned to maintenance crews for even higher accuracy. The solution streamlined auditing and analysis of fuel consumption, reducing errors and providing a more comprehensive view of operational costs.
