JG Summit Holdings, a conglomerate encompassing diverse business units throughout the Philippines, entrusted me with the task of creating a design system that would liberate the department from the constraints of design limitations. The primary objective was to establish a robust framework that would guide the department's development efforts while ensuring adherence to proper design principles across the organization.
The design system proved to be a boon for various development platforms, including OutSystems, Office 365, PowerBI, and PowerApps, as it facilitated faster development processes. By seamlessly integrating with these platforms, the design system provided a cohesive and streamlined environment for designers and developers to collaborate effectively. This harmonious integration acted as a catalyst, boosting productivity and agility throughout the conglomerate.
The foundation of the design system lay in the esteemed Atomic Design methodology, which involved the progressive combination of singular elements called atoms to form molecules, organisms, templates, and ultimately, captivating pages. This systematic approach ensured consistency, scalability, and efficient maintenance throughout the department's projects.
With meticulous attention to detail, I diligently completed the project, deploying the design system internally along with all the necessary code. This internal deployment marked a significant milestone, as the design system became the guiding force behind the department's design practices, fostering a culture of excellence and consistency.
Looking ahead, the vision for the design system expands beyond its initial deployment. The next phase involves extending the design system's reach to other business units within the conglomerate, enabling internal teams across various divisions to leverage its transformative power. By implementing the design system organization-wide, the conglomerate aims to enhance collaboration, standardization, and efficiency across the board.
